Information about Consumer Health Privacy

The providers who are part of ACCEL share a common commitment to protecting the privacy of consumer health information. We maintain strict compliance with all State and Federal laws protecting the privacy of health information. If you want more information about these laws, please visit:

As the use of technology to store and share health information grows, so do efforts to design systems that will protect privacy. As ACCEL providers begins to use computers to share basic information that will improve patient care, carefully planned procedures are designed to insure privacy. Only authorized providers are allowed to view patient information to support the patient’s plan of care. Privacy and Security policies and procedures have been developed and are in use to insure patient information is accessed only when appropriate and in a secure manner. In fact, compared with safeguards designed for computer systems, the traditional paper medical record has many fewer privacy guarantees.

For more information about ACCEL privacy practices, contact the Privacy Officer at any ACCEL participating agency.
