Access El Dorado receives Model eHealth Technology award

ACCEL (Access El Dorado), a countywide community collaborative, received the Model eHealth Communities’ award from UC Davis Health System and the California Telehealth Network (CTN). The $350,000 award is part of more than $5 million in funds supporting 15 community groups across California and is designed to assist communities in becoming best-practice examples in the use and integration of technology to improve healthcare for local residents. The award will provide funding for eHealth technologies, telehealth equipment, specialized community-based training and management to help El Dorado County healthcare facilities connect to and use a new, off internet, broadband system now being implemented by CTN.

Connecting Those at Risk to Care: A Guide to Building a Community "HUB"
to Promote a System of Collaboration, Accountability, and Improved Outcomes

This guide is intended to help improve the system by which at-risk individuals within a community are identified and connected to appropriate health care and social services. The audience includes a diverse set of public and private stakeholders involved in coordinating care for at-risk individuals. This guide may be of interest to Federal, State, and local governmental agencies and community-based organizations, such as safety net clinics, hospitals, public health departments, and charitable organizations.

ACCEL was Selected as 1 of 15 Sites in California to Become a "Model eHealth Community" Recipient
UC Davis Health System and the California Telehealth Network (CTN) today announced more than $5 million in awards to 15 community groups across California to advance health using telecommunications technologies and help provide examples of eHealth activity for other communities to follow. The Broadband Adoption Model eHealth Communities Awards are designed to assist California communities in becoming best-practice examples in the use and integration of technology to improve health and health care for local residents. The communities were identified through a rigorous selection process that required each applicant to meet certain criteria and demonstrate collaborative ideas and activities to help address complex health-delivery issues. The funds will be used to acquire eHealth technologies and telehealth equipment to connect with the broadband system that CTN is now establishing around the state.

Children’s Dental Van Arrives in El Dorado County

Community leaders, early childhood educators and health advocates in El Dorado County celebrated the arrival, unveiling and dedication of the new Children’s Dental Van last week. The van will officially become operational this week and will serve as a dental home for children ages zero through five years who do not have other means of receiving dental services. The Children’s Dental Van is a collaborative project between First 5 El Dorado Children and Families Commission, the Shingle Springs Tribal Health Program, the El Dorado County Office of Education and the El Dorado County Health Services Department, Public Health Division.
